iPad Display Issues with Stylus: Why Copy Pens Cause Touch Problems

iPad Display Issues with Stylus: Why Copy Pens Cause Touch Problems

Lately, we’ve been seeing more and more cases where customers report that the iPad display is “not responding properly” when using a pen. At first glance, it looks like a touch issue, but after testing quite a few of these, the pattern is pretty clear. In most cases, the display is actually fine. The difference comes down to the type of pen being used. When we test with an original Apple Pencil, everything behaves as expected. You can write normally, rest your hand on the screen, and the input stays stable. No jumps, no interruptions. But when we switch to a copy pen, things change. If you only use the tip, it often works okay. The moment you rest your hand on the screen while writing, you start seeing issues. Lines break, touch becomes inconsistent, or the screen seems unresponsive. That’s usually the moment customers think the display is defective. From a repair perspective, this is where things go wrong if you’re not careful with testing. If you only test quickly with a pen—especially without resting your hand—you might miss it. If you don’t ask what pen the customer is using, you might approve an RMA that shouldn’t be one. The easiest way to avoid this is to go back to basics when testing: First, use your fingers and check the full screen If touch works fine everywhere, that already tells you a lot Then test with an original Apple Pencil (your reference) Only after that, test with a third-party pen and simulate real usage (including resting your hand) That last part is important because that’s exactly where copy pens tend to fail. It’s not the screen struggling—it’s the pen not handling palm rejection properly. We’ve also found that asking the customer one simple question upfront saves a lot of time: “Are you using an original Apple Pencil?” In many cases, that alone points you in the right direction. If there’s still doubt, ask for a short video from the customer. You can usually see immediately whether it’s a display issue or just how the pen behaves when the hand is on the screen. Key takeaway If the display works fine with touch and behaves correctly with an original pen, then it’s not a screen problem. What looks like a defect is often just the limitation of a copy pen. Catching this early means: Fewer unnecessary returns Less back-and-forth with customers A smoother repair process overall

HYPER BRAND - ONE OF THE BEST AT CES 2022

CES 2022, the world's largest and most influential consumer electronics trade fair, was celebrated last week and this edition included more than 40,000 attendees, with 30% of them being from outside the US, representing 119 countries. During the 4 day fair, lots of topics where showcased, displaying the latest advances in 5G, digital health and food technology, but we are not here to talk about the metaverse or the meat-less burgers. Hyper, one of the awesome accessory brands we sell, was showcased in the CES 2022 and AppleInsider, an independent online media channel specialized in Apple products, has named a Hyper product “one of the best MagSafe Compatible Accessories”. And it’s not a lie. The newest Hyperjuice 4-in-1 Wireless Charging Stand is amazing. Instead of using a magnetic Qi charger, it has an official MFi MagSafe puck in the final charger. This means, that the charging power will be upgraded to double its capacity, and the product will be certified by Apple. The new Hyperjuice 4-in-1 also has an Apple Watch charging module, and 2 flat Qi charging modules for AirPods and other older devices. Another cool feature, is that the metallic support can be bent for easy storing. This product is not yet for sale, but we can’t wait to have it on stock for you (and of course, also for ourselves). • Battery change on iPhone 11 and 12

Battery change on iPhone 11 and 12

The newest iPhone series, 11 and above, have a different need at the moment of changing a battery compared to older models. When you try to change to any non-original battery, a message will permanently pop-up, saying that the new battery is not original.    On the premise of keeping the original flex, the battery health and cycle can be corrected or modified by connecting the Tag-On Flex or Built-In Flex after cell replacement. To copy the information from one battery to the other, you can do it with any device: iCopy Plus, Apollo or Copy Power, but the key step is that you have to install the new flex cable inside the new battery before copying the information. This way you assure that you correct the battery efficiency, without any pop-ups annoying your customer. BEFORE STARTING! If you already own a QianLi Apollo or iCopy Plus, there is no need to purchase the Copy Power. You will only need to purchase the new battery board that includes the connections for 11 and 12 iPhone series.  For this job, QianLi has created two types of flex cables : Tag-on Flex and Built-in Flex.  TAG-ON FLEX SOLUTION Connects to inline connector directly. Fast and convenient. No important skills needed. CONS: It will leave a mark on the surface. BUILT-IN FLEX SOLUTION More professional repairing, without evidence. Requires some operational skills, not recommended for amateurs. PROS: Leaves no mark on the battery surface.   IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not connect the battery directly to the programmer. The old battery needs to be original to copy the information.

  • THE SELF SERVICE REPAIR BY APPLE, IS IT REALLY A RIGHT TO REPAIR?

THE SELF SERVICE REPAIR BY APPLE, IS IT REALLY A RIGHT TO REPAIR?

November the 17th, 2021 was an important day for the repair industry. Apple, usually being disconnected in regards to the right to repair, announced they will soon be offering "Self-Service Repair” for end consumers. Our own customers, repair and service centers all over the world, seem to be both excited as worried about the announcement. “It might mean it will be easier for us to source quality and original materials to better service our customers, but does it also mean we will need to compete with bigger companies, like Apple, to continue to receive the reparations to our businesses?”. The statement of Apple is; and we quote; "To allow customers who are comfortable with completing their own repairs access to Apple genuine parts and tools.” Is it the end of repair shops? We contacted our Partners and tech specialists Carlos and Carlos Jr from Hank and asked for their personal opinion; “Not even close! Apple assures that they will offer original tools and spare parts, as well as repair manuals to carry out the service safely. But this is nothing new. For several years, YouTube has been full of information on how to repair the myriad of models that exist, including Apple devices. And although that has contributed to the growth on number of technicians and being trained better and better, it has not meant that all people want to repair their devices; they always end up coming to us. In addition to this, the repair costs of Apple's technical service has not caused much competition for distributors. For this reason, we can hope that the price of the spare parts and tools that they sell for the self-service will not be exactly cheap. Just as an example, an iPhone 7 screen change on the Apple website costs us € 171.10. It should be noted that just around that price you will find a reconditioned iPhone 7 on the internet or in physical stores. So no, there is no comparison.” But if it really wouldn’t make sense, why would Apple make the decision to offer this "self-service"? “If there is something they have dominated since the beginning of the company, it’s marketing. Faced with the immense Right-to-Repair Movement that has been stalking them for more than a year and a half, in addition to the pressure from the European Union with the new laws in this regard, they searched for an opportunity to look better to everyone, offering an solution without really changing much as it seems at this point. In fact, and I quote, "Self Service Repair is intended for individual technicians with the knowledge and experience to repair electronic devices” so they recognize that to repair you need to be a technician. There is nothing new.” So, in conclusion, as far as we can tell right now, there's no need to worry. We will still have the same number of phones to repair in our stores, and who knows? Probably more, thanks to a not-so-handy customer who tried to change their screen with an Apple manual ;-)
